ESSENTIAL OILS FOR ANIMALS

The exciting thing about essential oils, is that we are continually discovering new ways we can use them to support the well-being of our families. What about the four-legged members of the family? With doTERRA's specific rigorous testing, we can ensure that our oils are safe for use with animals. They can be used for injury, nutrition, and to address behaviour concerns.

Why do we use Essential Oils?

Their power to effect physical and emotional change is tremendous, and in many cases can be more rapid than anything else.  After studying the science behind their use and witnessing the deep way they act in the body, it becomes clear that these little bottles are more potent than they seem.

What are Essential Oils?

  • The aromatic, volatile liquids extracted from plants

  • Multifaceted purpose, serving as both protection and communication for the plant they are derived from

  • Complex chemical makeup which varies with each extract

  • Small molecular structure and lipid soluble properties allows them to pass through cell membranes and cross the blood-brain barrier, effecting physical, cognitive and emotional healing.

How can you use Essential Oils with Animals?

It is important to use only CPTG oils to ensure they are pure and safe for animals. All of doTERRA oils carry this reassurance. It is a journey discovering many ways they can be effectively utilised for the benefit of pets:

  • Diffusing oils in a pet’s environment can effect their emotions, helping to calm stressed or anxious animals, and also have physical effects

  • Petting applications, where a few drops of selected oils are rubbed between your palms and then applied to the animal by petting, stroking the ears, or a during massage session

  • Using them topically, in solutions or ointments prepared specifically for your pet

  • Internally, by adding to drinking water, food, administering directly into the mouth, or in capsules (NOT WITHOUT VETERINARY DIRECTION)

Common oils to use include lavender, melaleuca, eucalyptus, helichrysum, thyme and frankincense, as well as some doTERRA blends – Purify and On Guard are favourites, as well as the emotional blends Balance, Peace and Console during a euthanasia goodbye. These are just some of the wonderful benefits of using oils with Animals. Not only does this improve the well-being of the animal, but it also helps to prevent future health concerns, making trips to the vets less! What pet owner wouldn't want to ease the anxiety of a pet around fireworks, or treat an injury without nasty chemicals? Pets are members of the family too, so they deserve the wellness boost oils can provide as well.
